Myotherapy, Dry Needling in Richmond at BodyActive Therapies
The focus of Myotherapy is the treatment of myofascial pain and discomfort. Myofascial refers to conditions that originate in the muscles, tendons and muscle lining, or fascia, that cause pain and loss of movement.
Our Myotherapist will assess a client’s symptoms, taking a comprehensive case history and a detailed physical examination. The basis of Myotherapy is to treat myofascial trigger points that cause referred muscle pain, joint dysfunction and a loss of strength or movement.
To address myofascial pain a Myotherapist may use remedial soft tissue/massage techniques, myofascial release techniques, trigger point therapy, joint mobilisation, cupping and dry needling. Often the Myotherapist will prescribe exercise programs for the client to assist in injury recovery.
Myotherapy is now listed with most Private Health funds.
