Headaches & Migraines
On any given day, around 15% of Australians are taking pain relieving medication for headaches. These include tension headaches which can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a few days as well as cluster headaches which are localised and more intense.
Of the 5 million Australians regularly suffer from migraines, 70% are women and 85% are of working age. Migraines can last from a few hours up to 3 days, be moderate or severe in intensity and often associated with nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light, smell, or taste.
Headaches and migraines can be brought on by stress, muscular tension, gastric disturbances and hormone changes.
Massage & Myotherapy
Remedial massage and Myotherapy are excellent for relieving stress and neck and shoulder tension that can cause headaches. Especially useful for work-related tension and emotional stress where there is poor posture and muscular tension.
Osteopathy is a valuable treatment for headaches and migraines. Misalignments of the spine and neck, poor posture and muscle tension can refer pain into the head. Osteopathy addresses this spinal and muscular tension, relieving pain freeing up movement.
Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine
By treating the body as a whole, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can be used to address the underlying causes and relieve the pain associated with headaches and migraines.
Naturopathy & Nutrition
If there is a stress, hormonal or dietary component to your headaches or migraines, Naturopathy and Nutrition should be included in your treatment plan to address these related causes. Dietary components can be fluctuations in blood sugar levels, food additives or naturally occurring substances in foods.
